We are Mari and Ilone. We’ve decided to leave the Netherlands and start a campsite in Castanheira de Pera, Portugal.

After our children had left the house we realized it was more or less ‘now or never’. If we really wanted to change our lives and follow our deams, this was the right time. We decided to move to our beloved Portugal.

In 2015 we found the perfect spot in Castanheira de Pera. Portugal is still authentic here and nature is pristine. Our site is called Castanheiro de Pera, which used to be an olive and grape farm. We renovated the house and turned the terrain into a campsite. Here we rent out tents – with or without private sanitary facilities – and some pitches. Furthermore there are two rooms situated in the ‘quinta’ which can be booked as Bed & Breakfast rooms.

We are fully supported bij our children. They remain in the Netherlands knowing there’s a lovely site in Portugal for them to spent the holidays.

We might have left Holland, Holland hasn’t left us. The Dutch hospitallity is in our vains, which our guests will notice once they are here.
